Base Camp 2008 !!!!!

When exactly were you accepted? (Some people are confused because they have never received either a yes or no).
-
It has been a bit of a mess has it not, you would think that an organization the size of Google would be able to get something like this right.
-
I was accepted on Friday - May 9th.

I really hope that the good folks organizing this event will make a strong effort to allow virtual participation in the conference. We've started to do this fairly successfully at a conference held every year for NY independent school IT directors... with a small fraction of Google's resources. This past November we were able to audio or video record many of the sessions and make them available quickly (in some cases concurrently via streaming) over the Internet. What about doing something like TED, where all the presentations are recorded and made available for download? I think there are just loads of possibilities to use Web 2.0 tools and the Internet to make this a much richer experience for the entire SketchUp community.
Fred
John Bacus told me he was working on that, Fred. They do read these posts, it seems.

Good to know, so if higher poly support is not addressed we can then assume they ignore their base?
-
Solo, are YOU going? If you're not, why don't you just email Aidan and scold him, given your abiding unhappiness with their product?
-
I am far from unhappy with the product, SU is my number one used software and now with the addition of the new tools to make and manipulate 'curvy things' SU is now even better. I have issue with the future of the product.
I declined my invite yesterday for a few reasons, main reason being I need a new rig for rendering and the funds would be best served in purchasing that.
EDIT:
My situation has changed for the best and I will indeed be attending as a speaker, who knows I may even have some exciting Podium 2 news. -
Did people with no email communication check their Junk/Spam mail folder?
-
Well, that could be a reason, however in such a case I doubt that they didn't. I would have checked for sure.
-
I used my gmail account for the application. And my invitation was deposited in the Spam folder on the first day invitations were sent out.
My spam filter has now been modified to allow sketchup.com domain communication.
-
Mine went to Junk Gmail too. I was bummed for a couple of days that i didn't hear at all til i randomly looked in there and found it. I had sent an email to the Sketchup team and some super cool Boulderite actually called me to help clear up the confusion. Has anyone received any further info on where exactly on the campus stuff is happening or any other details?
-
Hi Grahams,
Here is some info about the basecamp:

Good questions and suggestions!
I've forwarded this info/link on to those who are involved in the planning and coordination of the event, so I'll let you know what I hear.. (or they'll jump in here and elaborate if they can).
Keep the interest, questions and suggestions coming!
I haven't seen or heard anything...

Hi Kim, sorry that no one else jumped in and helped answer questions...I tend to be the main person here who does that, but know that I do forward all kinds of info to the team from this forum.
From what I understand, there will be plenty of opportunity to give demos during 3D Basecamp to the community in the workshops. So, if you've got some interesting things you want to share and demo, then I'd work on it and be prepared to jump in and present.
Cheers,

It's really kind of you to offer this, but I'm affraid that it will be almost impossible for you to do - unless you already have good experience with Kerkythea 2008 Echo..??
(Which I - unfortunately - doubt... )I will see what I can come up with and send you a PM...

Maybe you misunderstood... What I was saying is that there will be time for people to demo whatever they'd like to other attendees. So bring a presentation and grab a spot to show off some cool Kerkythea action!

Yeah - I guess I did...

So what you're saying now is, that you'll have a seat for me at the Base Camp..??
-
Hi Kim, what I'm saying is there will opportunities for anyone who wants, to give demos to fellow attendees.
I've been told there are labs/workshops where you'll be able to do your own demos.
Does that make sense?

It makes sense, Craig...
I will send you a PM...
