      What do some of you use for opening an .rar file that you are pleased with. Some of the ones I have found are bundled with anti-spam, registry cleanup, blah blah blah. I would like a simple tool.

        winrar would be my recomendation as well. A very good program all round, and free.

          though i never bought it yet. it still works as free.
          Thats the one i use.
          Maybe this update carries the end of the use of the software when trial finish.
          But i dont think they have changed their policy.

                IZArc isn't quite as robust as 7Zip but it will handle (read) far more formats, including disk images like ISO and BIN. It's also free.

                      That's a tough call. Both seem to originate with same author. I cannot recall which version or the source when I had it on my xp machine. Since it is gone, I have not had occasion to acquire any .rar files.

                      I take the slow, deliberate approach in my aimless wandering.
