Small office building remodel
-
Here's the design I came up with. I decided to use the clerestory as a unifying element around the entire building, andd using the resultant horizontality as the concept for the building. I left it monochromatic so the client would concentrate on the design andd not get bogged down by materials/colors.

The property has a good sized backyard, so decided to open up the rear for daylighting and views to the landscaping.

Thanks, James. At the risk of sounding conceited, I am pleased with the design. The flat area with the parapet is for two existing rooftop units.

Very nice indeed, Daniel, very nice!

I like it, good job.

Thanks Tom and Eric.
Received a one word e-mail response from the owner - "WOW!" -
That is always good to hear.
Congrats. -

You deserved it for sure, Daniel!

Wow;-)
I like how you remodeled the "crib", it looks like something else;-) Nice touch to open up the back yard. I presume that the owner owns a beemer 3 cabrio?
It is always nice to hear a sincere wow from the investor.

Thanks. This wasn't even my project. I measured the exterior, but because of my workload, someone else in the office sketched up something (completely different). However, I was obsessing over it (all my projects are either in CD's, contract admin or bid phase so I am itching for some design work) so I worked on the building Friday night and e-mailed the front and right elevations to my boss. Unbeknownst to me, he sent them to the owner before I finished the site design. So he hasn't seen the entire design. Creating the patio in the rear will probably be more than he wants, but I'd propose to at least a wall of tall windows.
Regadless of what happens to the project, I am thinking of rendering it in Podium.

Looking fantastic, the best part is texturing and rendering, nice to hear you chose Podium for render, version 1.5 (out very soon...in days) has a GI setting that will make your design "pop". feel free to ask if you have any questions.
cannot wait to see the final rendering.
