I hide all my desktop icons and use the desktop taskbar at the bottom. I hate seeing icons.
I also change my desktop image very frequently. I get them from the CG Network, Digital Blasphemy, Richard Rosenman and more. And I will add that except for the Calvin and Hobbes, they are all CG.

I actually did multiple searches over weeks of time (when I had nothing to do) a few years ago. Then I compiled them into desktop images for myself.
