      Dear Ruby programmers/users ,

I have asked on this (and the old Sketchupforum) forum for a trilateration Ruby for many times .
For some reason until now it was not possible for the programmers to write a Ruby that could do that.
I however kept searching the web for a solution that could assist me with trilateration.
Now I have found a open source freeware program that comes close to what I was looking for .
It is called Sketchflat ( probably a coincident ) its a fantastic simple easy to use 2D cad program only 380kb., even the code is downloadable
It is written by Jonathan Westhues whom I wish to thank for his effort ,and sharing.
It has parametric dimensioning and a geometric constraints solver ,you can download it at http://www.cq.cx/sketchflat.pl
It is designed primarily to generate CAM output data, for manufacturing on a laser cutter, water jet machine, vinyl cutter, 3-axis mill, or other machine tool.
It can export to DXF ,HPGL ,and G Code.
I am sure it will also be useful to other sketchuppers ,and probably inspire the programmers to make a Ruby ,or a Add-on ,if possible like this for Sketchup.

(Dear Gaieus if this is not the appropriate place for my post ,than please put it on the right forum.)

      Greetings,

      Bep van Malde

the sketchflat program is great - it provides features which could make sketchup so much better for design! in fact i have planned to add parametric functionality to sketchup for a while - i wanted to create a parent - child relationship based on attributes describing the id-s of parents and describing the relation like (distance, angle, ...)

what do you guys think about this method? do you have any tips before i waste my time on something impossible?

I really hope that someone can make this happen!
