When I put some models of mine on the surface they just roll over... weird? Is there something I might be doing wrong? should I create another layer below the cars so that they don't roll-over?

I'll attach a file either in this post or another, I have to open and resave...

Remus is right. There are elements of the car that have been "flipped". Explode and group the car subgroups and it should work better.
