Joints, Oscillator

Has anyone figured out the rhyme of reason of using oscillator, 20 as the controller for either a servo or a slider? If not...I will try and do the same but y'all are so clever here and I am oh so lazy.....
It might be frequency....it might be amplitude ....it might be a mix...any help?
I especially would like to control things to keep them out of phase...etc.

It was meant to be used for machines. Using it you can create a object that moves like a piston without all the extra joints.
The ",20" means it will take 20 frames to go from one end to the other. The bigger the number the slower it will move.
Oscillator was a half assed feature I added at the last minute. In the next version you will be able to type a formula into the controller.
