Being a fan of Maxwell's output (and of it's Multilight feature), I decided last Friday to give NextLimit a small fortune, in exchange for a license.

Now, when I first took a look at Maxwell, little over a year ago, lots of people were having problems with textures not being found etc. I assumed those were ironed out. But no. Maxwell insists on looking for the Arroway jpegs it comes with on my πŸ˜„ drive.

Which is weird, as I don't have a πŸ˜„ drive. I'm on a Mac. I tried to set different paths under Preferences, but no luck.

I guess my question is: how did you fellow Maxwell users overcome this? You don't actually point Maxwell to the right textures every time, do ya? 😲

Ah! theres your problem, you on a MAC ... kidding!, sorry mate I cannot help you there as I have not tinkered with Maxwell (too expensive and I cannot wait three weeks for a render)
But I can say the arroway mats are damn cool, very $$$ but worth every cent (so I believe, I almost bought a pack once but just could not click confirm sale and then be justified in bitching when my wife buys yet another pair of shoes she will never wear)

best place to find a solution would be the Maxwell forums or maybe kwistenbiebel or Jeff jacobs may be able to help.

        Good luck.

Thanks, I'll have a poke around at the Maxwell forum (you know ... Rendering Elite HQ). I have this sneaking suspicision it might be best to have a "Current Project" map with copied mxm's and textures on my desktop.

Arroway - I've all their dvd's. Except for the last one. Which I cannot get as I am now out of money. πŸŽ‰

Separate bank accounts, mate, separate bank accounts.

Hmpf. Wanted to ask about this over at the Maxwell forum. But I can't, as I haven't been granted 'special access' yet. Seems like the NL people have a problem with efficiency in more than one regard. πŸ‘Ώ

                Stinkie,

you should be able to just register and then have access to the forum. I have had Maxwell since the beta (which has worse than terrible). I say I have "had it" because I have not used it hardly at all. I really need to as my wife keeps reminding me of all the money I waste on software I never use but "had to have". Also, check out the MXM gallery. They have great pre-built materials that will save you alot of time.

                Scott

Did that yesterday. I can access it just fine. Posting is something else, though. πŸ˜„

I plan on using it quite a lot. I need the quality and, especially, the control over lighting it offers. I really regret that Indigo hasn't got Multilight, as it surely offers the better workflow. (Did I mention yet I recommend Indigo? πŸ˜‰ )

One of the reasons I bought it, mate. πŸ’š Took a peak earlier today. Some nice stuff in there. πŸ‘

                    Stinkie,

Well let us know how you come long with it. The workflow between sketchup and Maxwell is actually quite nice. Especially being able to set up maxwell materials directly in Sketchup is a real plus.

                        Stinkie,
Wellcome to the maxwell club, I have been using it for a two Years now but unfortunately
I do not have the time to use it on a regular basis but it is a great program.

Thanks, Mateo. Luckily, I have all the time in the world to use it. I'm not a professional, so I can afford the render times. πŸ˜‰

SU + MoI + Podium + Indigo + Maxwell. I'm beginning to have really nice toolbox. 😍
