Perhaps the best way to learn SU is to jump in and try and model something that interests me. So, I dug through some old Japanese reference books, found some sketches and decide to try and replicate them, with a couple of my own additions. Not exactly sure where this journey is headed, but I am getting a chance to really put SU through the paces. So far so good. I'll keep posting new images as they come online ๐Ÿ˜„

It does look really good. I've seen it on Podium forum so I know what it is ๐Ÿ˜‰

The renders are straight from Podium--default settings. I dunno, take a couple of minutes each. Then I overlay the line drawing from SU in Pshop at around 20% transparency. A bit of soft focus, and a sharpen helps. Podium's very, very easy to use..and they have a free version. Suggest anyone try it--pretty cool.

this is pretty off topic, but would oyu recomend i buy the full version of podium, chipp? im a student, so would only have to pay ยฃ40 ($80)...do you think its worth it?

and to try and get back on topic a bit, very nice model, love the level of detail, gives it that extra boost of realism.

Although you have not asked me I think it is pretty good value for money. I am Teaching SU+Podium at Northampton University and people love it.

Well, I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to Podium, but I do think it's a great value. Especially, the student discount at $80. One of my all time issues with SU was it only has a 'cartoon' style render. Using Podium, you can achieve photoreal results with minimum effort. Plus, I really like the default rendering style with a line drawing overlay.

Another one which I forgot to post earlier.

It appears the limit of the width pics on this site is 800, but for some reason it doesn't show the full 800 pixels (Firefox on WinXP). Right-click and "View Image" to see it all.

yes, that's true. 800 pixels would stretch the div the post is in and the stylesheet of this forum software rather crops the image. About 706 pixel wide images can be displayed properly.
We only do not change the limit to 706 for the time being because that was the limit on the old board, too, and during the transfer it would be a PITA to keep resizing all the images in order to be able to post them here. After the transfer we'll set the limit properly.

Back to the topic; really cool renders and technique with the added SU lines!

                        Gai...
