It's not art but it's SketchUp

All you talented artists just blow me away with what you do. But I thought I'd show you what I like to do. Here's a model of a blast gate I made recently. I'd appreciate any feedback.

I don't understand why you switched from flat connecting arms to the flat arm with the round rod coming out of it? It looks weaker than the rest of the construction.

You are right that it is weaker, but it allows for adjusting the length of the arm so that the final throw is just right. The original idea was to tap the wooden arm and allow the threaded rod to be adjustable, but that broke. Instead it is adjusted while on the workbench then epoxied in place.
Also, it's not my design, I'm just making the model.

i'd love to see some real photos on this or a link to where you got the idea?
Thanks

It came up as part of a discussion on a woodworking discussion board. I'm hoping to put in a dust control system at some point, so I wanted to see how this guy had designed his blast gates. Sketching it up helped me understand the design.
The guy who built them has a site at http://www.crowsnest.us/woodshop/tools/dust_collection.htm.
