here's an update..lots of 'white'..haha... might have to do something about that... still need to play with the lighting some more..and do something about the stair/door textures... scale and repeat.. let me know your thoughts...i have the weekend to finish it.
-
A good start Marked001...
first I need to compliment you on your Sketchup output. That black and white really works well. Actually I like that much more than a textured SU model. Is it some special style preset?
Second, I am sure this will end up as a great rendered image, as always.
Are you going to introduce a subtle yellow to the floor and wall texture to gain a warmer feeling? Right now they look plain B&W...or maybe slightly warm tinted light could help as well.I love to see the resulting rendered image.
-
haha.. someone just asked that a little higher up that is just default 'white' for the 'google earth' style...so nothing at all special
i've actually got one running now that is much warmer.. not sure i'm loving it though... i tink the cooler feel went better with the scene
-
Not a comment on your renders (which are great), but the nosings (or rather the rake) on the stair treads look to be extreme and would constitute a walking hazard in real life -- the toes of shoes would catch on them going up.
-
Great job Jason, as usual.
PS, I'm still waiting for my Christmas card? Did your bundle of joy arrive yet?
-
if i rem correctly the "bundle of joy" would arrive on the 17th of jan!
i specifically rem it coz its my sisters Bday that day! -
you are absolutely correct, jenu! only a few days left..i will start freaking out very soon..
tina..you never gave me an address! haha...
thanks pmiller... i definitely agree.. these are fantasy anyway... this is really to show the kitchen cabinets.. but...those stairs do exist
the 'final' (i hope) is cooking now.. i've had to start and restart it a bunch of times between yesterday and today and make some changes... so hopefully this is it.. hopefully it clears up in under 20 hours lol..

here's an update.. kind of considering this the 'final' b/c i dont really have any more time to play with it.. let me know what you think..
-
Hhhmmmm....
Don't get me wrong on this... It sure looks good, but I have some disturbing things, which makes this render look a bit too poor...I.e. the brushed steel on the cooker hood seem out of scale...
The wooden texture on the stairs don't look right... (Is it same material you've used on the door?)
The lightning of the room/scene don't seem right - at least not to me...?!?But apart from this it looks nice...
(Although you can always argue that adding more details to the scene will make it look more realistic... ) -
yeah..i'm not thrilled with the brushed metal scale either..didnt really notice til it was too late to start.. and i did have a hard time with geting the stair textures to look right..
the lighting works for me i think, though.. always have a tough time with lighting.. supposed to be whiter light in the foreground from the window.. and warmer light in the kitchen from downlights just above.. maybe some color correction is in order..unfortunatley, it looks different on both my monitors
-
i think this is better...guess i need to calibrate my mac monitor
-
Jason,
The image looks good.
Some comments:
The apples look a bit washed out
There needs to be additional lighting as to not rely on rendering the scene with a single (i am guessing) lighting source. This adds to a lack of contrast and the image looking a bit too white. Maybe try lighting the pendants to add some additional contrast and shadows.
I too agree that you SU outputs are amazing and capture the feel of the image with no color.Best regards,
Scott -
thanks scott.... there actually are a bunch of different light sources am overall skydome, about 5 downlights (you can see the scallops on the upper left), undercabinet lighting, and the pendants.... lighting is always my big weak point..haha

and one more update, with a few minor client-requested updates..
