SU + KT + Photoshop Render
-
Hey guys,
This is my latest render, I know it can't live up to any of the greats here, but it's my first attempt at a sketchy/watercolour styled image.
The full process for this image was as such; drawn in Architectural desktop, imported to SU cleaned up, and altered, imported to KT, lights and materials applied, and then filters and effects applied in Pshop.
My boss didn't really like it, but I'm rather fond of how it turned out, please tell me what you think!

I don't like the 2D people, but I think the lighting is good. It presents a nice quiet mood...like a library or dr's office hallway.
What exactly didn't your boss like about it?

The people look like cardboard colored with crayon. If the rest of the image matched it might look really cool. I agree with todamgood4U, the lighting is nice.

She likes the more photorealistic renders, not too big into the sketchy style.
and now that I do look at the image, I'm inclined to agree that the people don't really fit the scene that well, what kind of people would you put in? photoreal with the same effects applied?
-
Nice quiet mood, and good lighting.I agree with the rest about the carboard people.Try some photorealistic people with some opacity or/and motion blur applied just to give a hint of space/size.

I'm with you, Will, I too like the soft warmth of this image.
You might try pulling just a little form out of the people with your light/dark brush...seems to pacify my "look like billboards" nemesis. (Getting picky, 'cause this image deserves the best, I think the kids group would set down in space better if moved forward off the white patch of carpet.)
Really nice, thanks for sharing. Best, Tom.
