      Hi guys,
I'm planning to buy a MacPro 2.66 GHz and now I wonder if it is necessary to go for the the ATI 512 MB-graphic card? I remember that with odler Nvidias there were a lot of issues with OpenGL and SketchUP... What are your experiences? How is performance with those standard 3D-OpenGL-apps such as SU, GoogleEarth, Cinema4D?
If possible I'd rather stich with the standard card and invest the money into extra harddrives for tiiiiime-maaaachiiiiiiiiiine.... 😉
      Cheers

I have the NVIDIA 7300 in my MacPro (3ghz, 2GB ram). It works OK. Overall, it's acceptable.

I do remember seeing someone post an issue with the ATI X1900 on this machine some time back. Search the old Pro forums on GGroups.

Apart from any ATi / Mac incompatibilities that there MIGHT be, the ATi X1900 should kick the Nvidia 7300 all over the show.

Hi guys thanks for your input - I will order the ATI 512 MB, the dealer (very tech savvy guy) said it outperforms the ATI tenfold... Well and since it's only 200,- € more, no big brainer... 😉
I'll tell you how it works.

              Cheers
