Yeah, this little "misalignment" makes it a bit more realisctic. The dough - or at least the surface of it - seem OK. On the sides it's tue a bit angular. Can you throw a little flour on it? just scattered (that could go onto the table as well).

We put honey into these Christmas cakes too (and cinnamon and another kind of spice the name I forget of and orange peel etc...)

I know it's late in the game to add a whole new idea, but how hard would it have been to make outlines of actual family members? That would be truly unique. Maybe next year.

Jason, I just love this idea... I've been following it.

The last image with the dough is great (like Gaius said, a little angular on the sides, add some flour and you'll have it) One suggestion I have is the the dough that is rolled out. There is a crescent shape cut out. Since you said you were having a "new addition" to you family (congratulations, BTW!!!!) What if you used the cutter for the baby to cut a peice of dough out or something...... Or even just another shape then the crescent?

Great idea, you are very creative!

...To get smoother cookie dough you could export the chunk to Silo3D , subdivide and smooth and reimport in Sketchup....

Am I allowed to propose that?

Looking good, how about using a stucco texture for the dough?

that's an idea, kwisten.. i can probably do somethign quickly with the terrain editor in sketchup?...i was trying to get away with using some old rocks i had..haha.. i do have silo sitting here..i have yet to open it though..haha

taht's not a bad idea, solo..i was going to look around for some photos of dough and see what kind of map i coudl come up with..

flour woudl be an awesome idea..but i dont think i have the skill, time, or energy to produce it πŸ˜• unless someone has some suggestions..

i included some of the above comments..redid the dough in the bowl, added the cutout in the dough... and i mapped a texture on the dough...not sure how it looks though...better, i guess.. i'm going to try another map on the cutting board with some flour and see how it looks... also used another hdri for reflections, but i'm not sure what the hdri was of b/ci dont know how to preview them in maxwell....lol.. i'm guessing it was exterior..anyone have any good interior hdri's?

What a great idea this is. πŸ˜„

                        a few items....
                        The flour looks great!
The spoon looked great before, but now looks like it's made out of tin foil
Dough looks great with a little in the spoon and crumbs around, just an awesome attention to detail
and if I wasn't sure, I'd think you were having triplets, lol (but I really love the cut out!!)

haha.. yeah, i think i need to ditch the other hdri in the reflection..stick with the original....

haha..i know, it does kind of look like that now! haha.. should i replace the baby cookie cutter with the cutout? lol.. i was going to put a tag on the baby cookie cutter that said 'new' or 'coming soon'...but it wasnt coming out too good.. i tink i'll just leave good enough alone...

and here is ONE more version with more flour on the table, i think my map is too low res πŸ˜•

Yes, I say leave it. I like the smaller amounts of flour like the one above.

Although replacing the cutter with the dough? put the cutter on the dough?

hmm..cutter on the dough.. might be a little more symbolic..

This is really fun, Jason, nice work as usual...but where is all the cat hair on the countertop? (Or is that just my kitchen? :`) I like the cutter in the dough idea too.
