Those of us who are a certain age grew up with a toy called Lincoln Logs. They were inch-thick dowels notched at each end so they could interlock to form the walls of a miniature log cabin. Probably named for President Abraham Lincoln, who famously grew up in a log cabin.
Now, a California designer named Ken Petersen has created what amounts to a Lincoln Log dining table. This piece of knock-down furniture consists of a two-inch-thick walnut top, 10 feet long and 42 inches wide, that rests on three-inch-thick pedestals. Thick dowels keep the top in place. The stretcher is notched to slip into the slots in the pedestals to hold everything together.

I think the table would hold up to well-behaved adults. The parts are massive enough and they fit together so tightly that the table probably won't wobble. Too much. Anyway, the orginal sells for $14,000, so I'm not about to buy one to test it.
