Found this by a trash can...

Looked to good to let die in the dump. I think it's Red Oak, but not sure. Solid wood throughout.

      My questions.

I know how this little piece of hardware works, but don't know the name of it. I think I want 4 more for my fix. It would help to know the name of what I'm looking for.

My second question is how is the screw thread set? I figure I'll just use a few of them up the stem of the bolt and accomplish my goal of setting them deeper than before.

Two legs split the same way. Looks like a nice clean split, I'll wood glue it, clamp it for a while and then set two of those inset thread/screws in each leg.

After that I plan to either order some tempered glass with a miter or get a piece of marble for the center.

Wonder where it was made? Any guesses?

I'm very proud of you for recovering and giving a life to something that was butchered and thrown in the dump. Not many people would do that here, in US.

        Respect, man! 👍

          Try "Threaded insert".

You can put a bolt in the insert with a nut (jamb nut) just above. Drive the insert into place with the bolt. When it's in place loosen the nut and remove the bolt.
