How to use special characters in filenames like æøå
-
Hi!
This one might be though, since most of you are US-Guys. But if you come from an ancient country like mine you have special characters like æøå.
And that appears to be a problem if you want to save a file with a name containing letters like æ, ø or å.
Do you have any ideas how to fix that?

Hei Rasmus!
Jeg godt hvilke frustrasjoner man får med æøå og applikasjoner. (Jeg finner programfeil hele tiden fordi verden tror alt går i Engelsk).
Prior to SketchUp 2014 we used Ruby 1.8 which had no concept of Unicode and there is no good solution of the under Windows as it will call the ASCII version of Windows' file functions.
In SketchUp 2014 the situation is much better as we upgraded to Ruby 2.0 which has Unicode support. However, we have some that Ruby still has some oddities - and we've been reporting issues and even fixes to the Ruby project. But reading and writing should generally work. If you have issues in SU2014 please post back with a sample snippet so we can look into it.

Hej Thom,
Then it sounds like I have to switch to Sketchup 2014
