Waterfox - non standard browser - fixed - just sharing

I was using Opera to see the forums
yesterday, when I used waterfox (waterfoxproject.org)
I saw the sketchucation home page but just the header and footer for the forums and a HUGE empty space in between.
so here's what I did
I have adblocker - whitelisted sketchucation.com and buysellads.com
I have ghostery - whitelisted the above
avast .. (firewall AND malware settings whitelisted the above)
I disabled "https everywhere" for this siteI updated my java this morning
then a browser cache clear and POOF! fixed
I know this is probably old news for most of you - but just in case someone else needs the info in one place.. there it is.
Thanks to TIG for pointing me here to read up.
The one thread for adblockers. there was a suggestion to go messing around in the hosts file in the system 32 directories - scary.. glad the above worked for me.
