Have done another re-design to my helicarrier model. Can call this one finished at last. Now to work on the materials and lighting 😞

The actual illustration is over 10k px wide so this is a smaller compressed version. I will try and host the raw image somewhere soon.

          A masterpiece πŸ‘
          About texturing techniques:
My advice is to start involving in blender - cycles render engine.
Have a look on the box-blended-mapping method for instance. No UVs, excellent solution for this case.

Thanks for this. I have used blender before but was put off by the interface and went back to THEA.

I will look into it once more in a few weeks when I have time and see what results I can get. Ill be sure to drop you a line when I inevitably get stuck!

            Cheers

I think as its personal and I have no client or specific deadline I can take my time with it. I put it down sometimes for months and then go back to it for a few hours etc.

My way of modelling is to take an a section, an engine for example. Then work on that in a separate document. That way it feels like I am doing a lot and because I cant see the rest of the un-detailed model, mentally it makes things feel a lot less daunting and I amble to crack on with it.

I probably have about 20 files of different sections, they only come together when I take an image or render for a public post.

Yes please send it on to your contacts, I was going to ask you a while ago actually, not that I am touting for their business but I like them to see my idea on it and appreciate it for that.

I managed to get my Avatar Helicopter model to the team who actually designed it for the movie last year!

                    My avatar is an anachronism.
