Mass distribution within a shape.

i am trying to model the trajectory of a free fall lifeboat. I want to drop a box with different arrangements of masses inside the box to compare the trajectories of differently distributed masses. this is to model how the lifeboat will fall when persons of different masses sit in different locations of the vessel. i was wandering how i would go about this. any help would be much appreciated. thanks. bob
