Awhile ago, I stumbled upon the website for an interesting artist, Dan Grayber, who makes sculptures that look like something you would find in a mechanical engineering lab at some university, or perhaps in an R&D department at Caterpillar, Inc. I really like them, and decided to try modeling one of the simpler ones to learn something about rendering with glass, and improving my lighting skills.

This is a model of his "Cavity Mechanism #2 with Glass Dome". Modeled in SketchUp, rendered in Kerkythea.

You can see more of Dan's sculptures on his website - they are really cool! http://www.dangrayber.com/
