I am brazilian and student in food engineering, but I like to use SketchUp to mechanical drawings. I like Sketchup because it's simple yet versatile, and has interesting features. my 3D warehouse:This video is of a model of a four cylinder inline engine, animated with sketchyphysics:

I unfortunately never managed to use SketchyPhysics efficiently which is too bad, it would help me a lot in my engineering design demonstrations ...
