Coroners Court

Hey folks, been a while since I've posted anything on here - though I can promise I have been lurking around the forums keeping very much up-to-date with developments. Here's a project I worked on about 4 months ago - the building & site were all modelled in sketchup.
The exterior shots were rendered in mental ray, and I'd have liked to have included full 3d grass and even more foliage but we ran into serious memory issues because whilst mental ray is an extremely capable render engine I find that its proxy system is nowhere near as good as VRays which brings me onto my next point...
After these images were completed we were required to provide internal shots too at which point I took the decision to move to vray (for 3ds max). A big step seeing as I had no idea how to use it, though luckily a lot of the things I learnt from mental ray were transferable to vray.

The exterior shots are great, especially the first one. Not a big fan of the interiors but it may be more the design I'm not a fan of, I think the one that shows most the whole room looknig at the judge's desk is the best one> Maybe the DOF is too strong or the exposure is too high, I don't know. (still better than I can do )

Beautiful work, Macker.

fantastic exteriors, I kinda agree the interiors have too much burn IMO,and maybe a little heavy DOF, but in your defence as you mentioned this is your first Vray renders which make it awesome.

very tasty!! I think the burn kinda suits some of the interiors...

Wow, very nice renders,Macker. I like them very much.
Did you build the models in Sketchup and export them into Max? Was the textures done in Sketchup or Max?
Best,

Thanks for the comments & critiques people, it's very much appreciated.
Ken, the whole model was textured in sketchup - because 3ds max reads the UV coordinates once I bring it in and start setting materials up. Though in hindsight there are things that I should have textured in max such as those wooden boards on the underside of the roof canopy...
I spent absolutely ages moving the texture on each board (they're all individually modelled) around to prevent tiling and also to give me the chance to apply different amounts of hue/saturation/reflectivity to each one in max. However I've since learned a far quicker way of doing this winthin max. I did the same thing with the "sleeper" fence around the car park too.
The only non sketchup elements are the foliage, cars & people.
