5 minutes, CRF: agfacolor futuraII-400CD. No post processing.
I'm loving the CRF's in Thea.

When I started using SU (yeah - v5 many moons ago, back at the good old @Last days) I wouldn't dream about seeing such awesome renders as we do today...
Not to mention on such short render times...
I look so much forward to see what you're able to do with Thea a year from now when it has eco-system and more... -
Frederik, by eco-system you mean something like what Vue has for vegetation?
By the way, Pete, Frederik, and others... Nowadays I know next to nothing about Thea except what Pete is posting here in the SCF, but I'd love to hear something about its animation capabilities from experts like you. I often make videos, so I'd love to have:
-Animated cars (Just can't achieve this reliably with SketchyPhysics. I tried and I tried...)
-Animated people (idem)
-Ability to make any object independent from the global illumination so it can be animated without having to force a GI recalculation and thus preventing GI flicker, too. This applies to biased methods only, of course.
-TV screens with movies playing on them (that is, the ability to use a video as a texture)
-Animated water in pools and fountains
-Fully functional escalators, lifts, revolving doors, etc.
-Fast fake volumetrics for "god rays" entering windows.
-Fast reflections for small objects via reflection mapping.
-Fast fake caustics via projector lights projecting videos, adjusted so they do not contribute to GI.
-Support for Archvision's RPC cars, vegetation and people would be icing on the cake. Are any of these capabilities in Thea?
-
These are great renders, especially the second one (my favorite). Great, great renders pete!!!

@Ecuadorian Thea has build in animation controls, those are good for walk troughs and simple product animations.
But I believe you are looking a bit more (that Su2Thea does support just now), so at the moment I would recommend to look on Blender and Blender to Thea exporter. It should already support most of those asked features http://www.youtube.com/user/grakoczy
grzybu had some animated texture tests too, but cannot find them just now, as they fairly old all ready. Thea do have plenty of features, that are not yet present in Studio UI, but available with scripting and plugins.
Max2 Thea is also fairly complete and should also be good for animation.[flash=500,376:1egzejy7]http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=14870514[/flash:1egzejy7]

-
really impressive stuff... that cayenne video is really surprising!! what is that background? just a spherical HDRI or something more elaborate?
-
Yup a standard old spherical HDRi.
-
bricks and cobbles look great in that last one. what's with the vehicle theme?
-
Look, theres my chopper! Looks awesome Pete!
-
Very nice renders. I especially like the way the model's shadow is blended into the image of the ground. "Agfacolor". Now there is a name brand associated with photography that I haven't seen in decades.
-
My first try to render car in Thea. Model is downloaded from 3dwarehouse ..
