"NEW render this" : lighter with sig.
-
I guess this should go here as well.

My quick version n_n
Amazing lighter model!

-
I think a more abstract composition was in order....
twilight and photoshop

-
Not exactly 'render this' but 'reshape and render'.
Exported from SU to blender and 3d coat. Rendered in 3d Coat, no PP. Some fun. Now I can bake it and import it in SU. Its a 'retopoed' 20k faces model now with nice UVs. The original was 25k.

looks very ergonomic!! nicely done!!
I just wanna hold it, see if it fits in my hand! -
@oli: Which one? Its just that I'm trying to stop smoking and lighters look like penguins.
So here it is. STOP SMOKING AND START SCULPTING

michalis, try those nicotine inhalators; I would have never quit without them. they give you a little hit!

i did a cut out of a flame picture, did an alpha map and added emmisive layer. -

[attachment=0:2iieyuy9]<!-- ia0 -->guggenheim-bilbao-2.jpg<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:2iieyuy9]There is some great design in lot of consumer objects, its a matter of scale sometimes. Thats why I distorted this. Good modeling (like sketchnl's) is what remains in the end, even after any kind of transformation. Modeling makes me happy, not rendering.

thanks for your compliment. with a good model, is rendering easier. it takes more time in the beginning but less at the end.
-
Well sketchnl, my point is that precise lines is what makes a scene to vibrate. Rendering is an effect, always welcome. Its like nice colours or dramatic shadows in painting. But what can I say in front of a Alberto Giacometti's or Picasso's painting or sculpture... Only some grey tones but extremely precise shapes! IMO of course.
-
Whow, exactly.
Yes it is true, it is all about the precision of the models. Only it's asking a lot of your computer. and you need a lot of patience.jeremy
