Render This: Interior
-
Captain,
Here's a quick try with Vue. I rendered on Final, so there is still some blotchiness, but I think the feel is right. I used Image Based Lighting and an HDRI image to light the scene, but still using Global Radiosity. I also removed all fog and only minimal haze. There is still a little lighting issue in the far corner. I'm going to see if possible rounding that corner by a quarter inch or so might help to smooth it out.
EDIT - Ran it again with the far inside corners rounded off a tad. Help to get rid of the hard lines between ceiling and walls, but still some minor light trapping issues. Also bumped render settings up to production a moved the sun position a tad.

Indeed great entries - I don't even know what to do with this rather empty and bit rustic piece

Looks like your using Lightup on a mac?
or try the users forums, they can be helpful, sometimes....

Fantastic Rcossoli!! Great thinking on the steps...they look much better. You guys are so good....man I really suck at interior design and would never think of half the things you guys put in your scenes. You really make them look lived in!!!

Pure vraysu output

Nomer, great render there, you are a king at interiors with Vray. I like the volumetric light coming in from window.

Well.... this makes me feel a little bit better about Vue and interiors.

I have gotten into a few heated debates on the E-on and C3D sites for saying this....
"Vue is crap for use in interior renders, please use Vue only for exteriors and another capable app for interiors"
And then some guy will post a reasonable Vue interior to show me up , but he would never say how long it took to setup, render or how many hidden lights he used for those dark, dingy and ugly areas.

LightUp - 3 minute render time.
I've added a couple of IES downlights too.

thanks guys
what I did with the stairs was to have more light inside
