My first building
-
i have been using sketchup for about 4 days now, this is the first building i have done that i spent more than an hour on, in total it took about 2-3 hours. any comments for improvements welcome.
-
Well, definitely not bad for a first building (actually much better than anything I could do after 4 days using SU).
What are your plans with those pathways on the roofs? Some kind of a roof garden?
-
thanks gaieus, yea the pathways are to go around a green roof. or at least should be i just forgot to color the parts between green.
but really i was just messing around. trying new things. and trying to get my rendering program working ( which its not and pissing me off) so i can render some cooler models rather than buildings.
-
And what rendering program would it be?
-
it would be this one, the free version.
-
hi dirt, rendering buildings (and generally exteriors) can easily give you some satisfaction with kerkythea, since you'll get good results without spending much time... but absolutely put a railing on that stair
-
Though Kerkythea is not the easiest program to start with, if you can get through the beginning, it is extremely powerful. Make sure to spend your time reading the manuals. They are indeed informative and a must if you decide to use Kerky.

i am having a hard time just getting it to work period. when i am in sketchup, and go to export the model in kerky, it wont create an XML file, just some random file kerky cant deal with. BUT when i have no model in the program and just add things like lights and sun from kerky, it works fine and opens up kerkythea. except that does me no good because there is no model to render.
is there any other free rendering programs out there?

SU2KT has problems with non ascii characters. So if you pathname, filenames, texture names, models or so have any special characters... change them. Use latest SU2KT http://www.kerkythea.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=8440
