Merry Christmas Sketchucation!!
-
I've been making my office's christmas card so I thought I'd post it here.
It was supposed to be an animated e-card but thats not gonna happen now. I think an image looks better anyway.
Made it all with sketchup, twilight and photoshop.
SU view of light emitter setup:
and heres the 'card'. have a good one guys!
-
Merry Christmas to you too!
Very nice image, I wonder what would that .gif look like -
nice....i like the stylized tree ALOT.... great idea.
-
this is the raw render. fake red emitters on a grey eggshell surface, no sun, hdri brightness at 0.1. simple tone mapping.
I also made the curvy green line in SU too then exported as jpeg for overlay. it looks simple but it really wasn't!

Great looking card Oli.

Merry Christmas to all of you. Nice card.
But you don't need a 3d app to do this. Illustrator-photoshop can do this. Or just SU and photoshop or gimp. -
you do need 3D! try (accurately) making that curvy line in photoshop, impossible. maybe something close, but not a proportionate scaling of circles with exact tangent lines. maybe illustrator can do it, but i don't use it. autocad would have been the best option. I tried making the glowing lights in photoshop but the render version looks way better! any excuse to use sketchup!! ho ho ho

You can do it in illustrator, even pseudo 3d. This card is just fine oli. Now being involved in the DTP for years, please do the same illustration (render) at 300dpi 70x100 cm.
-
lol its already 100 cm tall! need to reduce ALOT!
there's more than one way to skin a cat michalis!
what do you guys think is optimum size for emailing? I dont want people to have to scroll down the image to see it all. 800 pixels tall?
-
lol 100 cm (at 300 dpi?) 280 Mb as a tiff. You rendered that?
-
lol not 300 dpi! I wish!
its because I exported lines at twice viewport and upscaled render to fit.....so needs downscaling now! I didn't realise it was so big! render is only a midget 1000x 1000.
