Motiva SOAP is the new Multilight
-
I'm not sure if I have mentioned this freeware app before, so here it goes:
[flash=853,505:122zniap]http://www.youtube.com/v/JLg3D_bi7lE&fs=1[/flash:122zniap]The tutorial on how to prepare your images for Motiva SOAP. It looks complicated in MAX + Mental Ray but it's a snap on simpler software. All you have to do is make the diffuse channel ("color" channel or "albedo" channel) black for each black body render.

http://www.motivacg.com/descargas.phpRight now it's freeware, but depending on circumstances they might release it as Open Source in the future.

i didn't see in the video, how do you get your file to have .soap extension?
-
Download the app, it comes with a nice manual explaining the process. Ignore the other two modes, just focus on the GI mode.
-
err! can't get it to work in win7
-
It doesn't work for me in windows xp, i installed all it requiers, i just see blue blank screen when I open they're apps, not the blue screen of death, just in the viewing port, where the pic is supposed to be.
-
Make sure you have a graphics card supporting pixel shader version 3.0.
Anyway, after opening the pic, try moving some sliders around and see what happens. As this program works exclusively with the GPU, it's more buggy than most regular software, but they're preparing a new beta right now. -
I do have pixel shader 3.0 card ATI Radeon X1550, i did move the sliders, pushed all the buttons, nada, nothing, zilch.
-
True, it doesn't work for me in 7 either. I'll tell the Motiva guys. Until then, I have XP, too.

there are new versions out .2c and .4c and they still aren't working with win7??????????????
