I love DOF! Twilight Render
-
My final composition for the ant chair. Just a pass time exercise.
No photoshop except vignette, border and levels.
Comments welcome as usual
Brighter version with twilight logo:
The skp file is going to be made available on twilight forum so feel free to have a play.

perfect job Oli, as usual...
-
You could easily fool me to believe this is a real photo...
Well done, Oliver...I knew that you would be a true artist with TWR...
-
That looks awesome Oliver.....looks like a photo!

Nice job mate!!! As always!
Something strange with the metal, I know they should be chrome but there is something wrong with the edges being so dark!
If you are after a rough metal look I'd probably keep the metal in 0 roughness and add a very fine bump map - introducing roughness values to metals causes them normally to react as plastics.
-
Richard, the legs aren't chrome. It's like a grey powder coat.....on the one I have anyway, there are also chrome ones. That's why edges are dark, more of a blurry/plastic reflection.
I was going to make a version of this image just for you.....with intense bloom/glow effect just to rattle your cage! I decided against it haha

So . ..I notice that a lot of Podium Devotees have defected to TWILIGHT. .. myself included. What does this mean for Podium? and the future Podium 2?
Pause and Discuss
-
Do not be to quick to write off Podium, they have a few aces in their stack
I believe there will be a new version soon, which will sport a whole new render engine and a few new tricks, I honestly do not know more as I have been kept out of the loop.

Three sexy chairs, great composition oli, so

oh. . .I wasn't dissin' podium. I still use it. I was just wonderin' cuz of all the people who have picked up twilight. The only reason I brought it up was cuz I know you OLI do love podium so much. That's where I learned to render too. . .although not as well as you of course. Didn't mean to hijack the thread. It just occurred to me.
p.s. I don't know why my question got posted twice.
-
Hey oli how do you get DOF to show up in Twilight? I'm plaiyng around with the Demo version and I don't see a setting for it...
-
read the manual lol (I hate manauls too but its only small)
Right click on a target. can be a group or whatever...Click Twilight>Set Camera Target.....then set up your scene(it has to be in this order). Then in your twilight camera settings you will see F-number. It is default set at pinhole (i think). Change this setting....the lower the number the more intense the DOF is....if you go for a high number it is less noticeable. I used F-number 2 for this image. Then just hit render. I used a progressive setting (2800 passes) and seemed to get better effect. it takes a bit longer to render but worth it.In your camera settings you can also chnage the type of tonemapping while it renders....exposure, gamma etc give it a go...i end up with like 5 different versions of the same render hehe

I forgot to say thanks to Solo and everyone who got me the chair when I requested it.
