Ati o nvidia

Ho un mac pro con la 8800gt ma non mi piace come lavora con sketchup.
Sono deciso a sostituirla con la (ati radeon 4870 o la gtx 285) .
Quale mi consigliate .

My answer: Don't worry. The use that sketchup makes of the GPU is minimal, unfortunately. The load is in the CPU, as far as I know.
In spanish: No te preocupes, el uso que hace sketchup de la GPU es mínimo, desafortunadamente. La carga está en la CPU, hasta donde yo se.
In italian: I have no idea of italian/No tengo ni idea de parlare italiano

There are several different processors and GPU configurations. While core speed will help, the trend is towards multi-core processors with minimal speed increases overall and sketchup currently does not take advantage of multiple-cores. Some of the best scores on that link were with current nVidia gaming cards at 21 FPS (9600, 9800GTX), I didn't see any current ATI gaming cards so I can't say if they're good or bad. My current thinking is that ATI still has a lot of driver issues, so for stability IMO nVidia is better.
The question then is, what will you be doing with your computer when not using SU? If you game a lot, then go for the gaming cards. If you plan on using it mostly for work, then a better processor and a Quadro card may serve better.

I have an Imac with ATI HD 2600 pro, and in Mac osx Sketchup works very well. In the windows partition, however, Sketchup is really really really slow... I would really like to change my Ati with an Nvidia card.
Can you tell me what are the problems with Sketchup on your Mac? Maybe I can help you.

Che problemi ti dà Sketchup sul tuo Mac? Forse posso aiutarti. Che versione di Sketchup stai usando? Sketchup 6 Free non è ottimizzato per Leopard, mentre la versione pro sì.
