Ran this clay rendering the other night for a mini portfolio I'm putting together just to show my family over the 4th of July (I get a lot of blank looks when I talk about "computer renderings" and such). The color reflection from my HDRI was an unexpected surprise but, I think, a nice effect. In retrospect I would have used a less reflective glass for the cars but it's not worth re-rendering it for my purposes.

This is rendered with Maxwell. On the far sides you'll notice a couple of Solo's palms πŸ˜‰

Nice model and render, a background image will greatly improve its overall color or a sky....but I guess it just a wip?

I also used some of those palm trees for my renders, they are great models.... πŸ˜‰

It has a glimpse of a great render so keep working on it and add some textures and colors πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜„.....a clay rendering is also great in a portfolio....

        Cheers,

Cool and fun rendering, my only comment is the glass on the cars is a bit distracting, other than that I think it is a great rendering, can you post an image of the SU model?

Thanks for the comments. Actually it's a finished product, I just went back and rendered the clay version for a portfolio. Here's the final version

I don't have the SU file here but I'll post an image of it tomorrow.

As promised here's an image of the SU model. The model is 27 mb which isn't too bad for me. I use a lot of components which helps. Most of my file size typically comes from my texture maps which I sometimes forget to downsize for SU. I place the trees and cars directly in Maxwell studio as I've found it more reliable, and thus quicker, in the long run. It avoids huge SU files and all the associated problems therein. Someday, rumor has it, we'll be able to assign a SU proxy object to export as an associated external Maxwell object (so I could have a bunch of very low poly trees which upon export will know to go grab HighPolyTree.mxm and place it in their spot). Currently, you can use proxies but the high poly object has to be located in the SU file. So you don't have to have 30 high poly trees but you still have to have at least 1 and even that can cause very long save times.

Looks great, Brodie. The only criticism I have on the clay rendering is the blue sky reflection in hte glass looks off to me - the sky is black, and there's no colors used elsewhere. Maybe if you changed it to a gray scale it might look better.

                My avatar is an anachronism.

                  Daniel,

hehe, I think that was actually what I liked most about it πŸ˜„. It felt a bit more artsy than most of the clay's I've seen. I did try a b/w sky behind the building but didn't really like it as much so I left it out.
