are those rocks generated in Vue? Vue is still a mistery to me, any way we could get a screen shot showing the view interface, im currious about the display. (a step by step semi tut would be cool too)

well done, one of the better Vue Renders ive seen, the ones on the web/forums site arent as good.

          Thanks guys.

Sean, yes they are all done in Vue, including the terrain and all vegetation.
Here is a screen grab of the Vue setup, it's a link as the image is too large for this page format and any smaller you would not make out the details.

thanx pete, that helps, those rocks really do it for me, are they from a library how do u intergrate them? also is the interaction with the water automatic? i see some foaming. i really feel i should give it a try the new Vue is Vray compatable inside max.

what was the original resolution of that render and render time? from what i hear it takes forever to get Vue to render high quality, any thoughts?

                Sean

The original render is 1600x900 at broadcast settings using Global radiosity, it took around 21 minutes to complete (8 cpu).
I usually render at a higher res (ultra) but this was not intended as a render but for a digital oil painting, I decided to keep the render once done as it came out pretty good.
The rocks are Vue generated (there is a rock creation button) I just played with the material function to get the displaced California rocks I was looking for. The water is also Vue generated, you can now use displacement with wave setting, foam setting and even shore settings, you have options that include agitation, wave size, wind direction, amount of foam on wave crests and distance from ground to water surface for foam to generate, really is fun to play with, you can even animate the water with waves and foam.
The new Vue 7.5 is much better integrated with Lightwave, Cinema C4 and 3DMax, you can use Vray, mental ray, Brazil, Flamingo, you name it now to do final renders and it will still work with your render cows (network) using any spare and even useless PC in your home to add to your own home based render farm.

Are we gonna see an interior shot looking toward the Golden Gate Bridge Pete? The images look great by the way!

Looks fantastic, Pete, but wonder if you should have used a bluer atmosphere for the Vue image so it would contrast more with the architecture (as it does in the second image).

                      Great work Pete.

Was there a lot of work involved in Corel Painter to get that result Pete?

Great work pete. I think ur gonna inspire many to start playing with VUE (myself included). Id like to see some close up views of the water shoreline if possible? Im interested to see the smaller details.

On a serious way, the Vue render rocks.
