      ok heres my outcome of trying this with a petal model that i made up, took many trys to get the effect i wanted, and used a tutorial below

      I used the layer mask but as the backing was all faided due to the white backing layer the tutorial said to use (like a gif image) , i used a podium image of it and set it to "darken" above the layer mask layer, that way it sat behind the layer mask layer when put on "darken" and brought the detail through keeping the focus ... hope that made sense πŸ˜„

      i will post the previous goes at it below if anyone wants to see them

          looks a lot better!! I use that depth blur technique all the time now its awesome!!although perhaps tone down the lens flare....
