I do agree, it's not a very good camera, but it was a gift and therefore free, so it's all good for me. I'm a kiwi πŸ˜„

Oh, and it took about 3 days (on and off, though mainly on)
The little grooves took a lot of time and the test renders took up some time too.
            I have a few progress renders: http://picasaweb.google.com/CrazyEyes0/Renders#
or the model is here: http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=f486c2f051c05ea5e352b5685b8d43e7
and I made it for the Google SketchUp 3D Challenge #077 - Camera http://sketchup3dchallenge.blogspot.com/

                Good job!
The Model is detailed and cool.
But I think the camera itself is not cool.

Good modeling. What are you using to render? The HDRI (i am guessing) is not the right one for a product render (see shutter button). You would want to use a diffed light (HDRI) for product rendering. The light itself is really strong too. You are getting some burn. All in all it is good just needs a bit of tweaking.

Love the fact that some HATE my avatar.....

                        Thanks for the comment.
                        I am using Hypershot.
I have been using the standard HDRIs that come with the application with the enviroment turned off.
This time I have changed the HDRI and adjusted the brightness and gamma.
The shot looks a bit plain, me's thinks, but there is no burn.
What kinda HDRI would you suggest for a 'product shot'.

For product (studio) renders I would use a Diffuse HDRI Something like what is attached (just drop the .txt at the end). You can mess with the base color in PS to get it to where you want it. The thing with studio renders it you only want there to be light artificial light sources (typically). Very rarely would you use an exterior environment. Some of that is personal preference though. Good HDRI's are not cheap or small in file size so beware.

What version of Hypershot are you using?
Make sure you have the most recent as there have been some changes.

                          Scott

                          room diffuse.hdr.txt
