I was wondering if a script could be written to email the currently open model via the File menu.

Google Earth has this ability and I find it very convenient.

John, that would make collaboration projects a lot easier. 😉

My first thought was using mailto: - but it doesn't support attachments.

Next thought: Using mailto and open the directory containing the .skp file. Unfortunately the user has to drag'n'drop the file into the email window.

Well, the warehouse has an option for uploading private models and inviting collaborators/viewers, but it takes a while to upload, as it seems to be uploading several versions of the same file, together with a Google Earth version (Please correct me in this). I wish the warehouse gave you an option to upload only in SU7 format. Then, there would be no need for e-mailing attachments, just like Google docs.

Ecuadorian, i think its unlikely that the conversions would be done on your computer and then uploaded. Its more likely to be done at the google end, after youve uploaded your model. Having said that your model might not show up in the 3dwarehouse until the conversion has been done, which would explain the slowness.
