Quaddro CX - Hype, or a real advance?
-
Hi,
Just seen this video footage showing the potential of this new graphics card. Having been sucked in, built up my expections and then brought back down to earth with a bump many times, I am reluctant to believe most claims made by hardware and software producers. But every so often you do come across something really cool (like SketchUp!).
One of the claims made here include real time 3D rendering. The card itself, going by the size of it, looks like a mini computer all on its own.
When they say rendering in real time, I assume they are refering to the big beasts of 3D software. If true, I wonder how much of an impact it would have on SketchUp?
Could this card really be as good as claimed?
You would expect it to be good, costing nearly £2000!!Visit: http://blogs.news.sky.com/techtalk/Post:93bc45b6-e5d6-4a9e-b6a0-8827daada6e0
I would be interested to hear your views.

As it stands probably no or very little impact.

Google hasn't got the tradition to adapt Sketchup to new technology .

Unless you are planning to use Adobe suite more extensively I would be reluctant to buy that.
For that amount of money I would rather get an I7 rig which would be of more benefit to most apps. And as Kwisten said, SU is a P3 and P4 app that does not conform to technology.

Thanks Guys,
I wasn't really considering spending that type of money unless it did all that it claimed and made beautiful women find me irresistible.
Back to earth with a bump!
