Rack workstations for rendering
-
Question???
I work for a deisgnbuild firm and manage 3 drafters including myself. We're just getting into Vray for SU. I purchased 4 new computers about 2 1/2 years ago and had them loaded up to run AutoCAD very efficiently but now that we're getting into rendering they are slowing down. (they have Intel 2 core duo 2.4 ghz w/ 3GB ram). I don't want to have to buy new computers just yet. I was looking into getting a rack workstation with dual quad processors to maybe take over the rendering and freeing up the desktops to continue working on other stuff. Is this even possible and if it is, is it the best solution? I don't think I want to get into render farms??
Thanks

Are your workstations rammed up? If not, it would not cost much to max. one machine to see if that helps.

They have 3 GB of ram each. Not bad ubtil you try to final render. Then it slows way down.
