    Hi everybody,
I'm looking for help to import a cloud of point from an ascII file, using cloud.rb.
I've downloaded example.dat (attached), and followed the instructions...all is ok...
But when i try to import my txt file, nothing happen, the dialog box does not open.
My txt file come from an export from autocad 2008.

      Hi Adrien,

You have to separate the xyz co-ordinates EITHER with a comma OR with a space (or anything else the script allows) but NOT BOTH.

I think it won't be hard to do an automatic replace for either (replace it with nothing). I hope it will work that way - I don't have the plugin currently installed.

It is responding to me (installed cloud_6.rb now) although counting and creating the mesh from 13K+ points takes a while (hopefully it will create it - now just working hard).

Also note that your mesh will be extremely far from the origin (some 400 kms or so) which will make it impossible to work with (see this article for reasons - I hope I linked the right one; it's like stabbing in the dark 😒 ). Unless it is ultimately necessary for you to keep it that far, you should select all and move it closer to the origin (well TO the origin).

It's still working so I will come back once finished (the points are already created - now triangulating).

          Cool script, ain't it? 👍

            Hi Adrien,

            This is practically a no-go.
OpenGL limitation will simply prevent SU and the plugin to work properly IMO.

I don't know what units you were using when putting that cloud file but the whole thing is about 375 km long while at some areas the points are less than a mm from each other. Both are very problematic in SU - it cannot handle bigger areas than a couple of kilometres and has hard time to create faces smaller than about a millimetre.

            What is this anyway?

See attached file that I came to. Tried triangulation 3 times (at the very far east end you can see SOME faces and a lot of guide points).

              Many thanks for your reactivity,
I'm actually conversing with Didier (easier in french) in order to solve the last problems.
              Best Regards. Adrien
