Just got an email form adobe bearing some interesting info.
CS4 extended seems to contain some rather interesting 3d features:

Most notably, 'Direct painting on 3D objects.' Should be interesting to see how good it is.

Here it lists at $699 and up for the full version.

My bad, I did not look properly, upgrade is $350.00 and full is $999.00
