That project with all the trees...

...so much fun!
Last week's off-and-on endeavor was this preliminary model for a house in CT. The lot has lain unimproved for decades because of the rock outcrop. My buddy the architect has done several sketches for a couple of other owners over the last three years, but this one might just fly (this new guy has gone in and cut down a bunch of trees...a bad thing and a good sign :
( :) Hope this modeling effort (traced all the contours, roads, and buildings from maps, fleshed out the buildings from photos on downloaded assessor's cards...not to mention 470 trees: so far!) seals the deal: then I might get paid for it.I was hurting for a challenge, so I went way overboard on the surrounding area to show the punch of the highest ground in the neighborhood. Hope to get some photos of the views from the second floor, but my buddy is working without a contract still, so hard to expect him to drag a 12' step ladder out to the site. If he would: to the west is the river (shown) and the neighboring town beyond, north is up the river and another bluff across a wetland, east is more wetland then typical CT farm/suburb mix, and south is the town with Long Island Sound beyond. Sweet!
The light colored house is my first pass at the sketches (owner's concept)...should get redlines soon to finish up and will post. Also said I'd do a bang-up model of the architect's favorite concept for an "unbuilt projects" competition: that should be max fun! (And maybe that will get me the photos I want! :`)

The last two are great, I like the shadows. Those trees on that scene would look awesome with a bit of snow on the ground and branches. -
