        Mateo,
So this is Sketchup and Photoshop right?
It looks very good. About the best effect I have seen without render engine and I like this much more than the typical water color output.
It has a certain degree of realism to it and at the same time it is soft and appealing.

        I love it!

          Tom,
When someone says that it is the most beautifull rendering of a CG 3D
model one has ever seen., I think it is about the greatest compliment one
          can ever get.
          Thank You.
          Mateo.

          Tinanne,
          Thank You.

Mateo, I thank you (bow from the waist :`)...I just can't help but deal with this image as art rather than rendering: I stroll through it rather than look at it. I've been pleased to ponder your work for a couple of years now, but this one (for reasons to be discovered, I hope) has struck a personal chord not often plucked.

On another note, a question I hope you'll address in your tut: how you get the colors so light without being all hazy looking.

Reminds me of the post processing in the movie "Reflections in a Golden Eye". I was 15 into the move when someone whispered "hey this movie is in color."

Very nice effect. Mateo is the master of implied atmosphere.

Roger, thanks for Your comments and for reminding me of the movie, those were great times.

                  Mateo Mate I'm very impressed!!!!!!!!!!!!

I must say I'm sincerely happy to see you experiment with some new techniques, having looked at the images on your website some time ago I felt a little that many of your images were a bit too "dennis technique" if this makes sense. I think this technique is just way too common amongst SU users now so I'm happy to see you break the mould on that one.

That said I'd probably like to see a little less brush out in this current style and maybe a little subtle line work maintained. and maybe a few more people but still urge on subtle there. BTW the way you have pulled the water in looks great!! Oh and sun rays would work well across the worked part of your composition - subtle again!

Looking forward to seeing you develop this technique more and make it your signature!!

I garentee I will be using that technique in the future

beautiful work, Mateo. The subtle color grabs me too. I like the first one best. love the interplay of the triangle point of the boat, canopy, and umbrellas. I definitely want to take a little walk around. 😄

beautiful image - the first one you posted. it looks like 'old school' illustration with 'new school' flare. lovely.
