I have a friend who's an ArchiCAD junkie, I can ask him to help if yo wish. PM me if so and we can sort things out. I'm sure he'll do me the favour (if its possible that is, I know nothing of ArchiCAD).

if need 3d - turn on to 3d-view and select all geometry and then export into 3ds(i prefer) or dwg)
2d - select all in plan-view and export into dxf or dwg

And if you use not only native library, need to save as pla-format(archive)....for remote export to other people...

The bad thing about PLN files is that they are pretty much useless if you don't have the accompanying library files, even if you have access to ArchiCad. Archicad comes in many language versions, and they have significant differences in the standard libraries. If the object file is missing, only thing seen in ArchiCad is a placeholder symbol. It is like an AutoCad file that consists entirely of XREFs.(I really do not understand what the enormous file sizes of Archicad consist of).

I too have access to ArchiCad, and will be glad to help, even if I am an eternal newbie with it.

Thanks guys, the client converted it to .3ds for me, however there are so many issues with the conversion that I decided to model it from scratch in SU. There is a pergola that came in at 2MB and modelled in SU with even greater detail it's 127kb 😲
I appreciate everyones assistance and offers, thanks y'all.

The pro version of Sketchup has the ability to export to many 3D formats including .3ds.

                  additionally download sketchup-model reader plug-in from http://www.graphisoft.com/products/archicad/solutions/sketchup.html
                  and read pdf-manual
