Why error occurs when I start SketchyPhysics?
-
Hi,
I have modeled a possible breakdown involving my work. SketchyPhysics plug-in is incredible to me to do this kind of work. However, I do not know why error raises when I press Run button to start SketchyPysics2 (It causes GoogleSketchup crash). The link below contains the two files:
T13 v16 Origin: runs without errors
T13 v16 Errors: error occurs
http://www.mediamax.com/dinhcongphuc/Hosted/SKPErrorThe only difference between the two files is that in "T13 V16 Errors" I explode and array the scaffolding (in blue).
I have tried hard to change the model aimed at finding the error, however, it is hopless.
Please give me a hand with this error!
Thanks a lot,

This is an annoying problem that I have, I'm not really quite sure either why it happens, but my guess is that it has too many object or too much detail in the objects for SP to handle. This isn't Havok, so it can't move loads of complicated objects, it just simply isn't powerful enough. But as I say, I'm not completely sure, I would ask Chris, (the creator) he will know.

I think the problem is not the object quantities, because my real model has three times more than the model that I posted here. Without the scaffolding (in blue), it works well. The error occurs only when I add scaffolding and array it.
Furthermore, If I array the scaffolding but move it outside the bridge, it works well, too. It means this error does not depend on object quantities..?
Maybe too many objects overlap each other? Thus, the algorithm of Sketchy causes crash?

I think Sketchyphysics might have problems with arraying thing, i know it has problems with scaling but i'm unsure about array, try copy and pasting them and see if you still get the error.

Wow. Sorry about the crash bug. I took a look in a debugger and I am not sure why it is crashing. It is failing somewhere in the physics engine and I don't have source for that.
It might be the total number of objects or something else. Let me know if you find a way to fix it.

Your opinion seems true about copy and array commands.
If it is true, I have to spend nearly one week to copy, paste, move...However, I will try to copy, paste, move some typical elements in the hope that it works.

Only SketchyPhysics could help me now, thus, I keep going with SP. Could you explain to me some parameters as below (how they affect the model):
- defaultobjectdensity
- framerate
- gravity
- worldscale
I set the gravity to 100, I see my model much more real than before
In addition, I divide the whole scenario into several phases, so that if I want to animate phase n, I have to move and rotate elements in accordance with phase n-1 using SketchyPhysics. My question is that could I stop the animation and save as a scene like the way Sketchup does in stead of moving elements?
Today is a happy day of mine, I have finished 80% of the modelling work.
Thanks in advance,

-Density is how heavy the objects will be. Not much use yet.
-Framerate is the number of steps of the simulation to take before updating the view. Higher numbers will make things seem to happen faster. Values less than 1 do nothing. Each step is supposed to represent 1/60 of a second in real time.
-Gravity is exactly what says. 1.0 =1g.
-World scale is the value that everything is scaled by when it is passed to the physics engine. To be "real world" value should be 39 (inches to meters). But if you use that it will move very slow (due to the time step being in 1/60ths of a second). I made the default 9 because that "felt right".You can stop animation and save by pressing the Play button to pause the simulation and then saving.

SketchyPhysics is incredible
I almost finish my complicated work that I thought I could not do.
Due to the movie is confidential, so that, I can not post now. I will
post it as soon as possible (really impressive and complicated). At present, I have a problem involving movie render. Sketchup display is
quite dark when recording, therefore, the movie seems too dark. I have tried
to turn on "shadow function" to light up the model but it becomes really low speed.Do you have another way to make the movie more bright?
Thanks in advance,

How great SketchyPhysics is! (With Philips' help certainly )
I just divide the whole into several scenes and set up connections for each scene in order to get desired animation. Please keep an eye on this topic, I have been working days and nights on this model.
