Video textures possible in SketchUp
-
OK, I saw that extra button there, it is a ruby script, and I want it
-
it is a plugin and can be activated/deactivated (even if the impact on frame per rate is minimal)
it needs some finetuning, but this all depends on the user feedback - higher feedback, higher priority
-
I don't know what kind of feedback you want other than I WANT THAT SCRIPT!
-
I MUST HAVE THAT SCRIPT!!! if you want my feedback.
Here's why: (SketchyPhysics with joystick control + lighting in sketchup + video textures in sketchup) * it's all free = AWESOME!!!
-
unfortunately it will not be free (unless someone will sponsor the development)
also it is Windows only due the tricks involved. -
FFEDBACK, FEEDBACK, FEEDBACK...
Want more?
-
TBD, who cares if it is not free? I've bought a lot of scripts from Smustard, one more isn't going to make a difference. Please get this one done and let us have access to it.
-
TBD,
I think there will be a market for this script. Me, for one. Very cool.
-
I would definitely buy it. I use sketchup planning audio, video and lighting in exhibitions and this will be a great way to visualize projections and videoscreens.
-
Well TBD isn't rising to the bait of the adulation and praise so maybe some reverse psychology will work . . . . its an 'ok' script and maybe I could use it now and then . . thats IF it gets finished and works as advertised! An impressive youtube video is all very well but lets see it in action!
Oh did I mention I really REALLY want this script! Cash waiting . . . . . . !
You could have snow falling outside of the window . . fire burning in the hearth . . animated clouds . . . water rippling . . . elevators going up and downJust thinking . . between this and AdamB's lighting plugin . . its all looking quite exciting! but you really have to wonder what on earth the 'official Skoogle Development Team' are beavering away on? More style builders?
-
Come on Tavi, stop teasing and get it out there. Who wouldn't want a script that can do this even if there is no Mac version!

Video texture does sound intriguing, especially if it can be applied over a curved object.
But I'm still waiting for the release of your SU Macro Editor - creating your own scripts without knowing Ruby. Such a product would be especially useful if created parametric objects. It would seem appropriate for Google to sponsored this and included it in SU Pro. We do very custom millwork and woodwork. A cabinet section can have curved fronts, hand-carved elements, many custom details. Some construction details are constant, but many things are custom. But I digress...
-
TBD,
Pure by chance I stumbeld on this thread. AMAZING ruby.
Any update on where we can buy this plugin ?
erikB -
unfortunately is not available yet due the fact that I am completely busy with Podium 2 nowdays.
I cannot say when it will be released (or if it will be released, maybe SU7 will have video support anyway), but if someone wants to continue the development we can talk about.
-
Great stuff, I whish I didnt see this.
-
oh wow, this is amazing! I knew there was a great deal of talent in the community, someone does something that no one else has done before.
-
bump
Hoping to hear about some progress...
-
unfortunately there is no progress on it. if I cannot allocate more time on it I will release it for others to play with (source)

Hi,
I have done some similar work but all in pure Ruby as a proof-of-concept. Rather than decoding AVIs etc directly into OGL textures, my ruby just uses flick-book texture strips. I too don't see myself finishing this off anytime soon so I'm happy to throw this in the pot too!

I just "happend" upon this thread today. Yes it IS 2010 after all and it seems sadly that Skoogle Dev Team is still pumping out style templates but not much else. Here is the range of emotions that pretty much describe what i felt after reading this thread...
