Green Toaster's Car Sketches
-
I reckon the first thing to do is see if you can find any blueprints of it on the internet, its a bit of a long shot but it would help a lot with the modelling.
After youve done that, just get stuck in. Its probably best to start with the major elements (like the frame, major panels etc.) and then add in the details. Easy really

What a long time since I've been sketching cars ! ! !
Here's a WIP . . . nothing fancy, just trying to get back into the swing of things - will redo the front end & roof later . . . argh . . .

Green Toaster, I just joined to this Forum, and I have enojy it to go thru the entire process of you and many other talented modelers to built cars, I'm new user of sketchup but like you I having so much fun, I haven't try to do a car, but after see how much you improved during all this time, I definitely have hope that someday I'll learn to model cars too... thanks for post this tread and made it so fun...

Thank you for the nice comments - that's very motivational!
I sometimes procrastinate but one of my favorite techniques is called the "procrastination dash" - I use a timer to work like crazy, 20 or 30 minutes, then I get to spend 5 minutes drawing, what else . . . here's another quicky concept sketch . . .

Not bad at all, I quite like the Wagon/Van and the Pick-up/ute. Nothing wrong with a bit of classic design to really inspire. Thats why I started to model my Ford Cortina style car. I have always loved the design and I wasnt worryed about it looking out of place because its a beautiful car.
Cant wait to see more!

. . . if you only have a couple of minutes . . . it's better to sketch something than nothing at all . . . . . . well, maybe . . .

. . . quick sketch . . .

Not to be the party pooper in your 45 page counting brain fart, but wouldn't it be nice to finish or work out one of your models? From the first to the last page there is little to no progress Why don't you try adding stuff like mirrors, headlights you know? Some detail... Or try different versions of one car? Might keep things interesting for us too
This is, by the way, meant as constructive criticism and I hope you will see it as that.

HFM, I personally think GreenToaster has improved a lot. The details have increased and the models are looking cleaner and more pro.
From my experience with what his models are like they arenβt meant to be high detail and professionally presented and thatβs what many people use SU for.I see that your criticism is constructive but I think GreenToaster is doing perfectly well.
Keep up the great work!
