My name is Sladjan, and I work in furniture design and production.

I'd like to introduce Panel2Shop, a SketchUp extension developed to make the transition from furniture modeling to workshop preparation easier.

The idea behind Panel2Shop comes from practical furniture production: once a cabinet, wardrobe, or kitchen is modeled, there is still a significant amount of work required to prepare panel dimensions, materials, edge banding, cutting plans, and identification labels.

Panel2Shop brings these operations together in one SketchUp workflow.

What does Panel2Shop do?

1. Automatic panel recognition

Scan a furniture model and identify its individual panels.

The extension organizes recognized parts by dimensions, material, edge specifications, and quantity.

Each part receives an identification code.

In the kitchen model shown in our demonstration, Panel2Shop identifies 87 different panel types and 148 individual pieces.

2. Edge banding directly in SketchUp

Assign edge banding by clicking individual panel edges.

Supported edge band thicknesses:

0.4 mm

0.7 mm

1.0 mm

2.0 mm

Different colors make the assigned edge specifications easy to distinguish.

The tool also works with individual components inside nested groups.

3. Material assignment

Use the Color tool to assign materials directly to furniture components.

The material information is recorded as part of the panel data and used during production preparation.

4. Cutting lists and CSV export

Generate organized parts lists containing panel identifiers, dimensions, quantities, material information, and edge specifications.

Export the information in CSV format for further processing.

5. Cutting optimization

Prepare cutting layouts using configurable manufacturing parameters:

Available sheet dimensions and thicknesses

Saw kerf

Trimming allowances

Offcut dimensions

Material and cutting-direction requirements

Individual part settings

The optimizer generates visual cutting layouts with part identification and sheet-utilization information.

6. Workshop labels with QR codes

Generate identification labels for individual parts.

Label settings include:

Custom dimensions

Orientation

QR codes or barcodes

Different printing layouts

Preparation for label printing

This helps keep part identification connected with workshop operations.

Video demonstration

The video demonstrates the actual workflow inside SketchUp, including panel scanning, edge banding, material assignment, CSV export, labels, and cutting optimization.

Availability and pricing

Panel2Shop Basic v1.0 is available now.

Monthly license: $12

Product website:

https://shop.escapesystems.ai

Panel2Shop is currently demonstrated on Windows. If you need compatibility confirmation for a particular SketchUp version, please ask before purchasing.

Advanced modeling features and additional CNC and hardware-related modules are being developed separately and are not part of the functionality demonstrated in this release.

Feedback and questions

I would be happy to hear from SketchUp users who work with cabinet furniture, wardrobes, kitchens, or other panel-based furniture.

Questions about the workflow, compatibility, and supported production operations are welcome.

Thank you for taking the time to look at Panel2Shop!

Best regards,
