Please advise!

Hello to everybody.
I was wondering if anyone is using this two pieces of software together. What I mean is: Does anyone tried to cross from SU7.1 to modo 401 and vice versa?
Cause I read about the collada 1.4.1 plug and tried it but I get a full fail geometry. I also tried exporting to 3DS extension and that gave me the best, so far, result but not an absolute win in the end! What I am most interested is passing from modo to SU cause I render inside SU with VRay.
And something about 2d trees: I created this foto of a tree with a transparent background to use as tree for exterior renderings but 2 things goes wrong, first VRay wont render the transparency so the result comes as it is with a white background and second, altough I import it as an image it wont manipulate it as component/group.I will upload the original image and the one with the transparent backgroundfor better understanding.Isn't there an easiest way to add trees?
I could really use some advise!
