Lyall, looks like an interesting plan. Hope you post the finished model. You might want to reconsider the double doors into the study - it's awkward having to open two doors to pass through, and if they are wide enough to open only one, well what's the point of having two? Also, you might want to furnish that master bedroom to get a better feel for it's size - looks too small as it is.

        Lol,

Thanks all for your comment. Much appreciated, however, I'm not the designer, I'm just the modeller, so all your wonderfull comments regarding the design will go nowhere. Even if I do agree with many of the comments.

Here is a bit of an update, just tidying things up a bit.

Thought that I'd show this one too, just to give a bit more of an appreciation.

I used V-ray 6. And you just need to explode your plan. You can re-group it afterwards, but that kinda releases it from an imported image to a texture.

Here is where I'm at at the moment.

Does anyone recognise those beautiful 3D plants?

                  Oh, and almost forgot

I was wondering if someone might be able to help me.
I want to put some lawn down, but I don't like the textures I have available.
                    I am rendering using v-ray.
I had a thought, and that was to take a snap shot of the plan view of the lawn made from Vue8, and use that as the texture, however, as you can see, my Vue is trial and comes up with the stamp. Is someone able to make a nice lawn for me that I can use?

                    Pre-thanks

Crazy! You're having lots of fun I can tell! πŸ˜„

In regards to the design, I know this is a cultural thing but always surprised in other cultures (I'm Aussie) that kitchens tend to be pushed away and somewhat separated. Here we tend to do the exact opposite, we tend not to like one person being tucked away in the kitchen away from the rest of the family whilst preparing meals. If the kitchen was to be separated it would likely contain a meals area to allow for some seating for family during meal prep.

I guess we just want more integration and open plan living to incorporate the kitchen where quite a bit of time outside working hours is spent!

BTW mate the thickness of your roof element seems heavy in the external shots!

Very nice design and presentation, although you might want to lighten the sky - looks like an overcast day in some of the rendering. Also, two concerns with the design: the position of the outdoor fireplace looks like it would be conducive to smoke accumulating under the patio roof - you might consider either moving the fireplace further out from under the eave, or raising the chimney. And, the exterior corner of the master bedroom is producing a point load ontop of the garage door; rather than using a beam large enough to carry that load, wouldn't it be better to align the second and first floor walls?

                                        My avatar is an anachronism.

I'm not the designer on this house and I never plan to be a designer (excuse the pun).
I'm just the modeller and renderer, so those comments have been helpful. I know there is always room for improvements, and thats why I like to hear what you've said. I'll see if the next lot of renders can surpass this one.
