Beautiful model...in my opinion it doesn't need stripes. If it is missing anything it would be just small detail work...small rounded panel gaps, window weather stripping, perhaps slightly darker color in the rotor vents, and projecting a seamless carbon fiber texture on the lower trim and the mirrors. All very little things that will add that little extra but they are just that, extras. The model is great without it.
-
What funny is that the Carbon fiber is a matereal and is not projected on this model and all my models that have carbon fiber
-
I think it would look better with 2 stripes...black stripes. Still, nice modification!

ok i think its the final verson

Well done!

Check it out, and tell me how you think it could be improved! http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=aa16f869a3b36ba0f6c80f6a5291c505

Scott Para,
Just as I was about to start missing your commentary!
Thanks for the review on my Nissan. I am aware of the fact that the scale is
is far from normal. That's because while I'm working on my models, I keep 'em huge, so Sketchup doesnt meet it's minimal line length. I believe it's one sixteenth inch. Anyway, If you'd please note that it is a WIP, it is quite open to critism, so you could please tell me what to add, and I'll get right on it.I'm also aware that the wheels are really huge. I'm not sure what to do, becuase the wheels actually look rather good as they are now. I'm certain that they are over the standard maximum diameter, but if I scale them down, they look so strange I give it up.
Is there some particular detail missing?

Goldenfrog,
If it is a WIP then it is just that BUT the vehicle does not represent the GT-R is so many ways. Please review the site here this should be MORE than enough detail shots to start getting the model in order:

What throws the wheels off are the super small lug nuts and pattern. Back again we are to if you model to scale you will not have to rescale things later falling into the issues you have now. There is not "minimal length" of lines. If you change your units to decimal and precision to .001 you can draw about as small as you will ever need. So really no excuse to have to draw out of scale. It is a terrible practice to ever draw anything out of scale.

Really?

Scott,
I really appreciated the link. How do you start a model? I've been using ely862me's tutorial for this car, but I can't seem to get it to really look like the GTR. What tips do you have for creating a basic car mesh?
Also, can you tell me how you create seams between panels? Mine always seem too angular.
Thanks SO much for the directions on how to change the minimum line length. I really needed that.
So, the lug nuts are what you think is the real problem...I think you're right about that, but there is also a problem with the diameter of the rims.
Ok, so there are many details missing...
Thanks for the advice.

Right now, fellows, I'm working on a muscle car concept. If Scott Para is reading this, I am now modeling to scale, you can see Sang's shadow in the attached image. I'm lovin' the mesh. The hidden geo is on.

Look'n good so far! Can't wait to see more progress
-
Thanks Rogue. I gave the hood a shot, but it turned out quite a mess, so I took it out. Today, I'll try again.
-
Must. Continue. Now.
-
Thanks Shams.
I will continue the work this evening when I have some time, right now, back to studies! I'm studying the human heart.
Anything new from you? Besides your museum I mean.
-
Ok, SketchUp time!!
-
Doing alot of work here.
I'm using the "greens" style, kept getting the normal style (white faces) mixed up with the white of the blueprints.
-
I know I'm quadruple posting , but I post as the update is needed.
So far, this is my best car attempt.
The pic has wheels by Rogue. Thanks Ben.
EDIT! To keep from septuple posting, I will edit my post each time an update is called for. Here, as you can see, I have made my own wheels.
-
Nice progress. The front end looks a little high. Is that the design?
-
Thanks Ben.
No, the front was not done at the time of that picture. Now it is done, but I'm using my laptop, so tommorow, I'll show you some pictures of the finished front end.
